The ankle to forehead stretch releases stuck energy in the hips and upper thigh areas, especially if practiced daily.
Author Melody Beattie says, "the simple act of moving around can change your energy. When your mind starts to flag, move your body around. Go for a walk, take a bath, get a drink of water, work out at the gym."
And, I would add, "do a round of gentle, slow motion hatha yoga poses, daily."
Ms. Beattie goes on to say, "you're doing more than moving your body; you're changing and rearranging your energy field."
Gentle slow motion hatha yoga is superb for releasing stuck energy and rearranging your energy field. I can attest to this since I have been practicing yoga for 46 years.
Especially for those of us who have sedentary jobs, spending hours at our desks working, and too often hunched over our computers can cause us to become stiff regardless of our age.. When we are stiff, our energy becomes stuck and we may begin to feel depressed and powerless.
Practicing yoga definitely can help you amp up and maintain a consistently high level of energy (assuming you are also eating healthful foods, staying hydrated, and getting an adequate amount of restful sleep).
However, when I say "practicing yoga," I do not mean practicing once or twice a week, regardless of how long that practice is. Granted, doing yoga once or twice a week is better than not doing yoga at all.
But, it is not enough. To amp up your energy consistently, you must practice yoga 5-6 times a week, in my not-so-humble opinion.
On the infrequent occasions that I miss two days in a row of doing yoga, my body rebels. My energy plummets and my body is noticeably stiffer when I resume practice.
So,yes, we have the ability to "shift, refocus and rearrange our energy," as Melody Beattie says. And one of the best ways to do that is through daily yoga practice.
Yours for changing and rearranging your energy field with daily hatha yoga,
