Hi Deborah,

Thanks so much for your feedback and question. For the past 12 years or so, I have focused on eating whole grains (brown rice, quinoa, Ezekiel bread, for example), lots of veggies (broccoli, salad greens), some fruit (mainly apples and berries), and fish. I eat no dairy - no cow milk (I use organic soy or almond milk). I indulge in a sweet (like organic dark chocolate) maybe once or twice a week and a dessert only for a special occasion. I have done very well on this regime that in combination with yoga and rebounding on the trampoline has enabled me to maintain my college weight and energy levels. One can be a vegetarian but not be healthy if you are indulging in lots of sweets and high-sodium snacks. I recommend weaning yourself off of the sweets etc gradually. Like everything else, I always recommend baby steps not all of a sudden going cold turkey. Eventually, do not buy any of these items when you go food shopping. If you feel the need for something sweet have a few organic raisins (they are naturally high in sugar - but you can have a few) or organic fruits. This would be my recommendation. When you approach eating - focus on nourishing your body. I hope this helps a bit.

Hi, Laura,
I'm really enjoying your video posts. I would like to know your take on nutrition, specifically what is your diet philosophy while maintaining a yoga practice. I've been a lacto-ovo vegetarian for 28 years and continue to struggle to eat properly while incorporating a yogic lifestyle (my weakness being sweets and high-sodium snacks).
Thank you for your input.
