When you do the plough shown above, you FEEL connected to your body!
I love the book, Journey to the Heart: Daily Meditations on the Path to Freeing Your Soul by Melody Beattie and recommended by my holistic physician. This tome is chock full of spiritual gems of wisdom.
When I read today's meditation, "Let Your Body Lead You," I knew I had to share it with you.
Beattie says, "The more we connect to our bodies, the more we will live connected to our hearts, our souls...The more we practice listening to our bodies, the more naturally and easily this guidance and connection will flow. Trust the wisdom of your body, for it often reflects the wisdom of you soul."
After I read this passage, I immediately felt so grateful for my gentle hatha yoga practice. The slow, gentle, yet intense movement of gentle hatha yoga is superb for connecting to the body. I love the slo' mo' that heightens my awareness of my body. I have sufficient time to notice how every part of me feels as I open, stretch, twist, and compress my body.
For example, when I do the plough, I feel my chest pressed against my my throat andmy thyroid gland and I savor the tension being released from my hamstrings. I tune into and connect with my body - totally. And, I agree with Ms. Beattie - that when you connect with your body you tap into great wisdom- the wisdom of your soul - also called your intuition. And yes, I have experienced this benefit from my yoga practice - I am better able to listen and observe the world around me and receive intuitive messages because my body is more relaxed, open, and receptive.
And, when you awaken your intuition, your life starts flowing more easily and effortlessly in many ways.Just another of gentle yoga's tremendous benefits!
Yours for connecting to your body and to your inner wisdom through the practice of gentle yoga at home,
