Well, there we have it. Today is the last day of 2011! What an opportune time to look at the 2011 calendar and reflect on your physical, emotional, and spiritual fitness over the past twelve months. Before you possibly overindulge in some bubbly this evening, why not take 10-15 minutes to review how well you have tended to your body temple in 2011. Answer the following - at least in your mind.
Have you felt your personal best at least most of the time? That means do you feel awake, alert and attuned most days? Did you feel flexible and toned? Or do you have any tension in your neck or back? Are any parts of your body stiff and tight?
Can you handle stress well? Or were there times (this happened to me once this year and I developed my first cold in 5 years!) when you have allowed yourself to succumb to stress when you knew better?
If you have been reading this blog regularly throughout the year have you applied any of the tips and techniques that I offer to your yoga practice?
Have you even begun a yoga practice or any other exercise regime? If so, in all honesty, how often are you doing it? At least 5 times a week? Do you listen carefully to your body - making sure that you adjust what you do if you experience discomfort? Do you sit and stand tall and walk gracefully like a swan gliding across a lake?
Are you happy with and feel comfortable with your current weight? Do you eat mindfully - making wise food choices minimizing fat, sugar, and salt intake? Do you look your personal best?
If you didn't know what your true chronological age was, what would you say it was based on how you feel? In all candor, most days I do still FEEL 25 even though I am over 35, 45, and even 55!
If you don't like some of your answers, set your intention to treat your body temple with the greatest care in 2012 so you can live life on full throttle (as spiritual Marianne Williamson says!). And, please share with me how you are doing!
